On <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Oklahoma’s offensive line
“You watch them on film and they are very big and physical. They will definitely be a good challenge.”

On what stood out to him about Oklahoma’s offensive line on film

“They are very aggressive. I watched that Texas game, and maybe they had a little bit more because that was one of their rivals, but they definitely fire off the ball and try and get into you and move you off the ball. Not necessarily try and reach you all the time and get you moving one way or the other, they try to go thorough you to get you off the ball.”

On what Texas’s defensive line did against Oklahoma to have some success

“I don’t know exactly what kind of defense they were running because most of the time I thought they were in a three-man front.  Obviously, they slanted here and there, but for the most part I think they were attacking and getting to the bodies of offensive linemen before they had a chance to get to their second step, which is what we're taught, so they’re off balance by the time they actually got to their movements of where they actually wanted to go.  That’s the main thing that I have seen so far.”

On if the players are aware of the old NU-Oklahoma rivalry

“For me personally, I don’t have the greatest grasp.  I have some history on Nebraska. I’m not the best in that category, but for the most part the coaches haven’t really talked too much about it.  I’m sure it will be coming up. We have only had one day to look at them so far. It’s a great rivalry. I was here when we played them my freshman year in 2005. It was definitely a hyped up game, so I remember watching them play against us. There’s definitely some bad blood there, but it’s good bad blood.  It’s a competitive game, people like to get after each other and definitely don’t want to lose that game.”

On if they will be able to get pressure on the quarterback

“Most of the things I have seen they have thrown screens and they try and keep you off balance with quick passes.  He isn’t always back there in five step drops, although he does it every once in awhile.  They usually get the ball out pretty quick so it’s hard to get after him. Within the three-step drop, that’s where you get your hands up and different things of that sort.  Most of the time he is in the shotgun and it’s a three-step drop and he’s getting rid of the ball pretty quick.”

On if Oklahoma reminds him of anybody they have played

“Not really. They are almost like a spread offense but not because they are an 11-personnel team, and they do run the ball as well as pass it.  They are a very even-keeled offense.  I think this is probably the first we have seen of that nature that we have played so far. We’ve really seen a lot more spread teams.  This team is a little more conventional like our offense in a sense.”

On the defensive line's confidence

“I think we are definitely confident. I believe in all the guys that I play around with and the guys that come in for us.  There is no doubt that I think we can have a great game against them and definitely push them to the limits.”

On if Oklahoma’s ability to run the ball makes them more dangerous than any other offense they have faced this year

“Yeah, in a sense it does.  You really don’t know what you’re expecting in every single play. In certain situations, let's say for example when we got Texas Tech in long yardage situations, you knew they were going to pass the ball.  Most of the time they did pass the ball, although they did have running attack, but their main thing was passing the ball. With Oklahoma it’s a little bit different, your transition to getting into the pass rush when the have the play action is something you’re going to have to pick on and be more honed in to.”

On how helpful it is for the offense to win the time of possession battle

“It’s huge.  That’s one thing I notice with the Oklahoma team. They definitely have had tons and tons of snaps on offense. The longer our offense is on the field the better for us. I have always believed that your best defense is your offense being on the field.”
