Huskers Finish Sixth at Big 12 Relays

Lawrence, Kan. - The Nebraska women's swimming and diving team finished sixth at the Big 12 Relays in Lawrence, Kan., on Friday. The Huskers scored 28 points in the meet, and the No. 7 Texas Longhorns won the meet with 102 points.

The Huskers had two fourth-place finishes on the day, including in the meet's first event, the 4x25 freestyle relay. The team of C.J. Bray, Jess Andrews, Hailey Dean and Kelsey Grushecky finished with a time of 50.40, only a second and a half away from the first-place time. Nebraska also finished fourth in the 4x50 freestyle relay, with Bray, Andrews, Dean and Mariah Hutchinson.

The Huskers couldn't get any momentum in the talented field at the Relays, which featured No. 7 Texas, No. 9 Texas A&M and No. 18 Missouri. The Aggies finished second with 98 points, just four points behind the first-place Longhorns. Kansas and Missouri tied for third with 62 points each, while Iowa State came in fifth with 42 points and Nebraska sixth with 28 points.

NU had 17 top-six finishes in the meet, but weren't able to put together a top-three time against the talented field.

The Husker divers will travel to Minneapolis on Nov. 14-16 to take part in the Minneapolis Diving Invitational before Nebraska's first home meet of the season, the four-day Husker Invitational on Nov. 20-23.
