The Nebraska women’s tennis
team heads south this weekend for its second fall tournament of the season on
Sept. 26-28 at the Jayhawk Invitational in Lawrence, Kan.
The Huskers got off to a flying start in their first tournament of the year, the Gopher Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. on Sept. 12-14. Three Huskers (KirbyBridges, Mariannce Cicmanec, Ashley Finnegan and the doubles team of Bridges and Cicmanec) took home a total of four titles in the 11-team tournament. Bridges and Cicmanec each had perfect 4-0 singles and doubles records at the tournament, and hope to keep their unbeaten streak alive this weekend in Lawrence.
Among the teams participating in the tournament are Air Force, UMKC, WichitaState and ArkansasState as well as Big 12 teams Iowa State, Kansas and KansasState.
The Jayhawk Invitational is the second of four fall tournaments for the Huskers.. Nebraska will head to Midland, Texas, from Oct. 10-12 to play in the Midland Invitational and then travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, for the ITA Central Regional Tournament from Oct. 16-19. The Huskers will cap the fall season with National Indoors from Nov. 6-9 in Charlottesville, Va.
