Hutchinson Qualifies for Olympic Trials

Junior Mariah Hutchinson will be part of the most prestigious swimming event in the nation as she qualified for the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials last week in the 100- and 200-meter butterfly.

A native of <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Topeka, Kan., Hutchinson narrowly missed the qualifying mark of 2:16.69 at the Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational June 5-8 at the QwestCenter, but succeeded at the Last Chance Meet in Columbia, Mo., last Friday, June 20 with a mark of 2:16.1. She then qualified in the 100 fly time trial with a mark of 1:02.3.

 

Hutchinson will join former Husker Lauren Bailey at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials next week in Omaha, as she will compete in the 100 fly on Sunday, June 29 and the 200 fly on Wednesday, July 2. Bailey qualified in both the 400 and 800 freestyle.
