Charter Among May Graduates

Lincoln, Neb.- Nebraska gymnast Jon Charter was among 49 Nebraska student-athletes who received their diplomas during spring commencement exercises on Saturday, May 10, at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Charter, who wrapped up his eligibility with NU in 2007, graduated with a degree in communications. A native of Fort Myers, Fla, Charter joined the Husker team in 2005 as a transfer from Springfield College. He shined in four competitions during his junior season before becoming a co-captain of the 2007 squad.

Charter consistently competed on floor exercise for the Huskers in his senior season and notched a career-high score at the 2007 NCAA Championships in State College, Penn. During the 2008 season, Charter provided coaching assistance to the Husker team, helping them to a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, their best finish since the 2004 season.

The 49 Husker graduates this May are added to the December class of 44 graduates to bring the total number of Husker student-athletes graduating during the 2007-08 academic year to 93 before summer commencement exercises in August. Nebraska continues to feature one of the highest graduation rates in the nation with an exhausted eligibility graduation rate of 94 percent.
