Houston, Texas? A pair of Husker divers ? junior Courtney Jolly and freshman Mariesa Cloud ? wrapped up successful seasons by competing at the 2008 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Houston, Texas over the weekend.
The duo was among more than 20 competitors from the region who qualified for one of four zone diving meets following conference championship competitions the previous two weeks.
Cloud came away with Nebraska’s highest finish from the meet, as the Maple Valley, Wash., native finished eighth on Sunday’s platform dive with a score of 412.40. Cloud also placed 16th on the one meter (457.50) and 20th on the three meter (424.50).
Although the freshman held the Huskers’ best overall finish, Jolly was the top NU diver in two of three events, as she was 12th on the three meter (537.25) and 14th on the one meter (461.10). Jolly was 13th on the platform (396.00) behind Cloud.
Both Huskers were coming off a fantastic Big 12 Championship meet, in which they combined for four top-five finishes.
