Jonesboro, Ark.-Sophomore Cassandra Leuthold placed third individually as the No. 1 Nebraska bowling team also finished third at the Mid-Winter Classic at Jonesboro bowling lanes on Sunday, Feb. 3.
NU recorded an 11-3 record en route to placing third behind Sacred Heart (14-1) and Central Missouri State (12-3), respectively.
"There were a series of maintenance and mechanical errors at the tournament this weekend," Head Coach Bill Straub said. "The team is doing just fine regardless of the results. Whether we finished first, second or third, we are still doing just fine. There were just a few mechanical errors."
The Mid-Winter Classic
was judged according to wins and losses. However, Nebraska was unable to play Morgan State in the opening round because Morgan State did not have enough competitors. Instead of giving Nebraska the win based on forfeit, the Mid-Winter Classic did not acknowledge the Morgan State game for Nebraska. Every team in the tournament played fifteen games except for Nebraska. If NU had gotten the win, it would have finished second overall.
The Huskers will be back in action again on Friday, Feb. 15, for a three-day tournament at the Morgan State Invitational in Baltimore, Md.
