No. 10 Huskers Prepare for 2008 Season with Intrasquad

Lincoln - The No. 10 Nebraska men’s gymnastics team will begin preparations for the 2008 season with its annual intrasquad meet at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, and Friday, Dec. 14.  The two-day event, which is open to the public, will be held in the practice facility of the BobDevaneySportsCenter.

The Huskers will compete on floor exercise, pommel horse and still rings on Thursday, before continuing the competition on Friday with vault, parallel bars and high bar.

The intersquad will not only give Nebraska’s newcomers a chance to test their routines before the start of the regular season in January, but will give the team an opportunity to adjust to the new Olympic-style NCAA scoring system.

Twelve letterwinners return to the Nebraska lineup, including senior Stephen T?trault, a three-time NCAA All-American, and junior T.J. Schmidt, a 2007 NCAA All-American.

Nebraska opens the 2008 season on Friday, Jan. 11, at the Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs, Colo.  The two-day competition, which features No. 3 Oklahoma, ArizonaState and Air Force, is set to begin at 8 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
