Inclement Weather Shortens Memphis Intercollegiate to 36 Holes

Memphis - The Huskers were in ninth place midway through the second round on Monday when play was suspended due to inclement weather. Teams will conclude the second round of play on Tuesday morning. The tournament will be shortened to a 36-hole format.The final round, originally set for Tuesday, is cancelled.  

Nebraska shot a team score of 304 in the first round of play, 24 shots behind the leader, Mississippi. Junior Chris Bruening played his best round of the season, shooting an even-par 72. Bruening was at +4 after ten holes in the second round, tied for 28th overall.

Junior Mark Pillen is at +5 overall after playing nine holes in the second round. Freshmen Mike Coatman and Andrew Wyatt are at +7 and +8, respectively. Junior Trent Price struggled through the first round, shooting 84. However, Price is leading the team in the second round at -1. Price recorded an eagle on the 589-yard first hole of his second round, the longest hole on the golf course. His eagle was one of only four eagles on the day and the only eagle at hole number one.

Southern Mississippi, Penn State and Memphis are all tied for second place, 11 shots behind Mississippi.

Kevin Foley of Penn State leads the tournament at a scorching nine shots under par. Jesse Spiers of Mississippi is at -5 and Logan Young of Mississippi St. is at -4.
