Choudrant, La. - The Nebraska men's golf team was tied for 12th place at the Louisiana Tech/Squire Creek Classic when play was suspended early in the second round because of heavy rain. The second round will resume at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning and the final round will be played after that, weather permitting.
Nebraska shot a team score of 298 in the first round, which puts them 16 strokes behind the leader, Mississippi. Jacksonville St. is in second place and LSU is in third. Nebraska's score of 298 is the best first round score the Huskers have recorded since their 290 first round score at the Wichita State Invitational last April.
Mark Pillen continued his breakout season with an even-par 72, putting him in a tie for 16th place, four shots back of the leader, David Marino of Mississippi St. Mike Coatman shot 74 and sits in a tie for 33rd after the first round. Andrew Wyatt and Brett Sundberg shot 76 and Chris Bruening rounded out the Huskers' first round with a 77.
