Huskers Prepare for First Fall Tournament

The Nebraska women's tennis team will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, this weekend to play in the Drake Invitational, from Sept. 7-9. The tournament will be the first in the 2007-08 season for the team. Five teams will be competing in the tournament, including Drake, Iowa State, Missouri, Nebraska and Northern Iowa. Competition will start Friday at Noon and end early Sunday afternoon.

The Huskers are coming off a 2006-07 season which saw them go 13-9 in spring play with a roster that featured six newcomers on its seven-person squad. This year's team features five returning letterwinners and four talented freshmen.

Five Huskers will be competing at the tournament, including freshmen Abby Buxton, Amber Chandronnait and Stephanie Evans and juniors Marianne Cicmanec and Ashely Finnegan. Cicmanec will play in the "B" Flight Singles bracket while the other four will play in the "A" Flight Singles bracket. Stay tuned to Huskers.com for the latest results.
