The Nebraska women's team had four current and past team members honored as ITA Scholar Athletes, given to athletes who earned a varsity letter and had at least a 3.5 grade-point-average throughout the 2006-07 school year. Diana Kuhl, Ashley Finnegan, Wiveca Swarting and Imke Reimers were named to the list, which was finalized last week.
The four Huskers joined 433 other Division I women's tennis players who also received the honor. The women's tennis team as a whole was one of 89 Division I teams to be named as an ITA All-Academic team, which is given to teams that have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2.
The awards capped off a 2006-07 season that saw outstanding results in the classroom as well as on the court. Eight Huskers were named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll throughout the season, while Reimers was named to the Academic All-Big 12 team, and was also a second-team Academic All-American.
