On Nebraska's performance against USC

"I think that we are a better team than what we showed against USC. We made some mistakes, we watched the film and we are going to improve on it this week. We put that behind us, that game is buried now so we can focus on BallState.”

On watching the USC film
“We just were not consistent with our techniques. The techniques that we were doing on the field are not what we were coached and told to do on the field. We were not consistent and we want to get better this week in practice.”

On the team's confidence

“The confidence is good. We took some positives out of the game. You always look for the positives and we watched film and got some positives out of it. We want to build on that and improve. That is what good teams do.”

On the ability of USC to create one-on-one situations

“It happened by being in the open field. Somehow some way we have to get them down, its athlete on athlete, and they made more plays so that’s what it came down to.”

On the positives Nebraska took away from the USC game

“At times we showed what kind of team we were, and we saw what we could be at times, but we just have to be consistent with that and we were not consistent the whole game.”

On Coach Kevin Cosgrove's persona while watching the USC film with the team

“They are coaches. They are going to be upset when they are not seeing what they are coaching. That’s football for you. If a coach does not see you doing the things he wants you to do on the field that’s when he gets upset.”

On his reaction to Coach Cosgrove's critique

“Someone has to put the blame on someone, and I guess this week it is Coach Cosgrove. But like I said, that is not what he coached out there on the field and those are not the type of things that we are taught every day.”

On the amount of time the Huskers spend on fundamentals and techniques in practice

“They are emphasized all the time in all of the drills that we do.”

On avoiding a letdown against BallState

“You cannot let down. We are coming off a loss. We need a win and that’s what we have to do. Winning will help forgetting some of the stuff from last week.”

On bouncing back from the USC game

“It is all about the character of the team. If you have a strong character team then it won’t be hard. I think we are a strong character team. I think we can make improvements and we will go practice hard and with enthusiasm.”

On his mentality going into the Ball State game

“Every game you have to get on the field and play. A game is never won before it is played. You have to respect every team you play, and I have the up most respect for BallState. We are going take this game like any other game.”
