Huskers set to open season in California

The Nebraska men's golf team begins its 2007-2008 season on Monday, September 10th at the St. Mary’s Invitational in Pebble Beach, California. Poppy Hills Golf Course will play host to 18 teams, including Baylor, Colorado and Kansas from the Big 12. The tournament is a 54-hole format and will be spread out over two days. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.

The Huskers send a young, inexperienced team to the St. Mary’s Invitational. Four of the seven players on Nebraska’s roster this season are true freshmen. Juniors Chris Bruening, Trent Price and Mark Pillen are the only returning letterwinners for a Nebraska team that has finished sixth in the Big 12 the past two seasons.
