Huskers Welcome Student Body to Practice

Lincoln ? The Nebraska football team enjoyed its largest audience of the preseason on Sunday, as more than 4,000 University of Nebraska students flooded Memorial Stadium to watch the Huskers’ 2 1/2 hour practice.

It was the final official practice of fall camp for Nebraska, which will begin its game-week preparations on Tuesday, after giving the players a day off on Monday.

Head Coach Bill Callahan, along with senior captains Bo Ruud, Zack Bowman and Brett Byford addressed the crowd at the start of practice, encouraging the ever-supportive UNL student body to continue that tradition this season.

“We appreciate your support as always,” Callahan said. “And we want you to come out here this year and make this the loudest stadium in college football. We want this place to rock.”

The Huskers closed fall camp with conditioning at the end of practice, a final farewell to three consecutive weeks of intense workouts for Nebraska.

“While we were running there at the end, a couple of us were saying ?Wow, this is our last day of fall camp before we get a day where we actually have no obligations to be here’,” senior Zach Potter said. “This camp was pretty grueling, but it’s nice to know that we got through it and I think improved.”

After taking Monday away from the practice field, the Huskers will be back in action on Tuesday from 2-4:45 p.m.
