The Nebraska Soccer Field will be alive with activity on Wednesday, Aug. 22, as the Huskers’ youngest fans can meet the NU players and coaches at the 13th annual Meet-N-Beat the Huskers. The free event gives youngsters reign of the pitch from 6:30 until 8 p.m. to get autographs, enjoy free pizza and pop and participate in drills instructed by the Huskers.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
Drill stations will be set up around the field to give the aspiring soccer stars instruction in all aspects of the game, including passing, shooting, defending and goalkeeping. Nebraska soccer players will be positioned at each station to set up the drills, while also providing encouragement and coaching.
The 2007 Nebraska soccer posters will be available for free at the event, giving the kids in attendance the opportunity to meet all 31 Huskers as they sign their poster. Other NU items will be given away as kids play on inflatables and learn official chants of Nebraska soccer.
This is just the first of many chances local youth soccer enthusiasts and their family’s will have to enjoy NU soccer as the Huskers host 10 home games at the Nebraska Soccer Field this season. The Huskers begin the regular season at home on Sunday, Sept. 2, at 5:30 p.m. as they host Northwestern.
