Husker Youth Experience Set for March 29

Nebraska football announced on Tuesday, Aug. 21, that the 2008 Husker Youth Experience has been tentatively set for Saturday, March 29.

Complete details regarding the Husker Youth Experience will be announced at a later date on Huskers.com. Details and registration information for the 2007 Husker Youth Experience are listed below and the information will be updated on Huskers.com as soon as it is available.

2007 Husker Youth Experience Information

Nebraska football coaches and staff will work with participants in a free clinic setting beginning at 12:30 p.m. All players/parents/guardians/coaches will be invited to watch the Huskers practice that morning, tentatively set for 10:30 a.m.

Check-in on the West side of Memorial Stadium will begin at 9 a.m.

The Husker Youth Experience, which is designed for youngsters between the ages of  8 and 14, is limited to the first 500 registered participants and pre-registration on Huskers.com is required. NCAA rules also require that participants must live in the state of Nebraska or within 100 miles of Lincoln.

Complete details of the event are listed below. All times are tentative and subject to change as of Jan. 23.

Date: March 24, 2007

Time: View practice at 10:30 a.m. (Check-in - 9 a.m.)

Coaches will work with participants immediately following practice at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Place: Memorial Stadium; check in at West Stadium Entrance (to skyboxes)

If weather is inclement, the clinic will be held in the Hawks Indoor fieldhouse

Limit: First 500 Registered Participants

Requirements:

• Children 8-14
• Cannot be enrolled if you are in 9th grade or above
• NCAA rules require that participants must live in Nebraska OR live within 100 miles of Lincoln, Neb.

Registration:

• Pre-registration is required
• Register at Huskers.com
• Check-in: West side of Memorial Stadium starting at 9 a.m.

Equipment Required:

• Tennis shoes/rubber soled shoes
• Suggested apparel: Nebraska T-shirt/Nebraska sweatshirt, shorts/sweatpants
• Please no other college apparel (including hats/caps)
• The participants will not use helmets or shoulder pads.

The Husker Youth Experience is set up to provide the youth of Nebraska and surrounding areas an opportunity to be coached by the University of Nebraska coaching staff and Nebraska players. The Youth Experience is for youths 8 years old through 8th grade. The participants will work on drills and fundamentals with our coaches and players. We would like to encourage youth coaches to attend as well.

There will be four 10-minute segments teaching the following fundamentals:

• Form Tackling
• Ball Skills
• Running
• Blocking

Practice (10:30 a.m.) on March 24 will be open for the participants and their parents/guardians/coaches to watch prior to the start of the event. All participants will be required to check in prior to the event.
