The Husker Nation will have yet another opportunity to enjoy Nebraska athletics on Saturday, Aug. 18, as the NU soccer team hosts its annual Red / White scrimmage at 2 p.m. The event is free and takes place at the Nebraska Soccer Field, located between Memorial Stadium and the NU Coliseum.
The game will give fans a chance to check out Nebraska’s returning players and promising incoming class.
The other events surrounding Nebraska’s Fan Day will start with the Coach Callahan Charities Fun Run / Walk ? sponsored by the Nebraska Heart Institute and Houchen Bindery. The one-mile walk / run for kids and adults starts at 8 a.m., followed by the 5K run / walk.
The annual Football Fan Day will commence in Memorial Stadium at 10 a.m. and last until 11:30 a.m. Fans are provided a great opportunity to meet their favorite players and coaches, take a snapshot, and get a favorite item autographed.
The Husker volleyball team will have their own Red / White scrimmage to begin the 2007 season at the Coliseum at 7 p.m. Prior to the first serve, the team will receive their 2006 National Champion rings and will unveil the new championship banners in the Coliseum.
The public can also meet the team at the annual Meet-N-Beat the Huskers fan day at the field on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m. This free event is a great time for local youth to meet the Husker student-athletes and participate in basic soccer drills. The NU soccer team will travel to Louisville, Ky. on Saturday, Aug. 25 for the Fourth Annual Jenna Cooper Memorial Exhibition match with Louisville that honors former Husker Jenna Cooper. The Huskers officially open their season against Northwestern on Sunday, Sept. 2 at the Nebraska Soccer Field.
