Mueller Heads to U-20 World Championships

Lincoln ? Incoming freshman Tara Mueller heads to the Far East this week as part of the U.S. Women’s Volleyball Junior National Team. The 12-member team will compete in the FIVB U-20 World Championships held July 19-27 in Nakhonratchasima, Thailand.

Mueller, a 6-foot-0 outside hitter from Scottsdale, Ariz., was one of the nation’s top high school players in the class of 2007. The No. 12 player in the country according to prepvolleyball.com, she was a two-time second-team Mizuno/Volleyball Magazine All-American and led Desert Mountain to back-to-back state Class 5AII titles in 2005 and 2006. She was named an AVCA High School All-American this season and was a three-time first-team All-Arizona selection by the Arizona Republic.

This is her first appearance with the U.S. Junior National Team, as she was forced to miss the 2006 NORCECA Continental Women’s Junior Championship because of injury.

Mueller, who was enrolled in the first summer session at Nebraska in June, will join the Huskers when they report for fall camp on Monday, Aug. 6.
