Lincoln ? The Nebraska volleyball team’s performance during the 2006 season was rewarded this week, as it earned an ESPY Nomination.
The Huskers, who went 33-1 en route to the school’s third national title, is one of six nominees for the “Undeniable Performance” ? honoring the best female collegiate team of the year. Nebraska was ranked No. 1 the entire season and won the national championship with a 3-1 victory over No. 2 Stanford in front of an NCAA record crowd of 17,209 at Qwest Center Omaha last December.

Fan voting is now underway for the ESPYs (www.espys.tv) from now until 10:59 p.m. on July 7, as fan voting will determine the winners in each category. Other nominees for the award include Arizona softball, North Carolina soccer, Northwestern Lacrosse, Tennessee basketball and Wisconsin hockey.
The event will be televised nationally on ESPN on Sunday, July 15 at 8 p.m, (central) from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.
This year’s nominees will be featured, discussed and debated during The ESPY Nomination Special on Tuesday, June 26, at 6 p.m. (central) on ESPN, hosted by ESPN First Take's Jay Crawford and Dana Jacobson from ESPN's studios in Bristol, Conn. The first recipient of the new Jimmy V Award will be announced during the hour-long special presentation, which will also include commentary by Jim Rome as well as Pardon the Interruption’s Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon.
