Reimers Earns Academic All-America Honors

Lincoln - Nebraska women's tennis player Imke Reimers, a junior form Papenburg, Germany, was named a second-team Academic All-American by CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine. Reimers, who carried a perfect 4.0 GPA in both her semesters as a junior, was one of four Huskers to be named an Academic All-American, joining Sarah Pavan (volleyball), Dane Todd (football) and Stephan Tetrault (men's gymnastics). Pavan was named to the first team, Todd and Reimers to the second team and Tetrault to the third team.

Reimers wrapped up one of the most historic seasons in Nebraska women's tennis history in 2006-07, winning 28 singles matches and 42 combined singles and doubles matches. She was only the third Husker to ever reach the NCAA Singles Tournament, where she lost to Miami's Audrey Banada in the first round.

Her nomination to the Academic All-American team capped off a series of academic accolades for Reimers. She was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in both the fall and the spring, and she was also named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team for the second consecutive season.

Nebraska's nation-leading Academic All-America total is now up to 243.
