Lincoln -- Former Husker gymnast Stephanie Carter was among 53 Nebraska student-athletes who received their diplomas during spring commencement on Saturday, May 5 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Carter, the 2007 Nebraska Female Student-Athlete of the Year, completed her Husker career last week at the NCAA Championships, helping NU to a sixth-place national finish. After being named to the Dean’s List and Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll every semester, Carter received her bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Carter was a second-team All-American on floor and a two-time All-Big 12 performer on vault and bars, highlighting a career that included three first-team academic all-conference nods. The Bryn Athyn, Pa., native was also a three-time NACGC Scholastic All-American.
The 53 Husker graduates this May represent all 23 of Nebraska’s varsity sports and nearly 30 different majors. The graduating class also includes nine student-athletes who combined for 16 All-America awards.
