T?trault Takes Vault Crown at Canadian National Championships

Regina, Saskatchewan - Nebraska junior

Stephen T?trault captured the vault title at the 2007 Canadian National Championships in Regina, Saskatchewan with a score of 15.40 last week.  The three-time Nebraska All-American also earned a career-best seventh-place finish in the all-around

 (162.351).

T?trault's top spot on vault (15.40) placed him above 2006 Elite Canada vault champion A.J. Rayment and six-time Canadian national team member and former Olympian Ken Ikeda.  In addition to his stellar vault performance, T?trault placed fifth in parallel bars (14.05) and sixth in pommel horse (12.75) of the senior men’s division.

A Lincoln East graduate, T?trault's performance placed him in the running for a spot on the Canadian national team for the Pan-American games in Rio de Janeiro on July 14-18. However, Canada's official national team roster has not been set and T?trault will learn if he has qualified in the coming weeks.

Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, T?trault moved to Lincoln seven years ago to train with the Nebraska School of Gymnastics.  He became a part of the Nebraska squad in 2005 has competed in three NCAA Championships as a Husker, where he earned All-America honors in 2005 and 2007.
