Husker Assistant Strength Coach Langworthy Honored

Nebraska assistant strength and conditioning coach Dave Langworthy has been named Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.

The honor is the highest given in the strength and conditioning coaching profession, and the announcement was made at last week’s CSCCa National Conference. Langworthy was presented with the blue MSCC Jacket by fellow Husker strength coach Mike Arthur, also a Master Strength and Conditioning coach.

In order to receive the MSCC certification an individual must meet the following criteria:<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

1)       Hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree

2)       Be a currently practicing full-time strength and conditioning coach on the collegiate or professional level

3)       Hold current membership in the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association

4)       Hold the CSCCa Certification?SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified) and

5)       Be a full-time collegiate, and/or professional strength and conditioning coach for a minimum of 12 years

Langworthy was one of three strength and conditioning coaches nationally to receive the certification in 2007. The three coaches joined 57 existing Master Strength and Conditioning Coaches, brining the total number of MSCC’s to 60.
