Rebounders to Hold Doc Sadler Golf Classic

The Rebounders Club is proud to announce that, in conjunction with the Nebraska Athletic Department, it is planning an exciting new event this summer with the creation of the Doc Sadler Golf Classic.

 

The golf outing, which is expected to become an annual event, will be held Wednesday, June 13 at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club (1800 Wilderness Woods Place, Lincoln, NE68512). The format will be a four-man Texas scramble with a shotgun start at Noon. Former Husker coaches and players who return for the event will be added as a fifth player to each foursome.

 

The event is open to the public, especially individuals who are interested in finding out more about the newly reorganized Rebounders Club and ways to help promote and fund the Husker men’s basketball team. Among the invited participants will be former Husker coaches and players, along with Doc Sadler and his staff.

 

“This is going to be a fun and exciting event,” Sadler said. “We look forward to building more opportunities to bring back former players and coaches and getting involved with the fans. Having all these people together is what will make it such a special Nebraska basketball event.”

 

The primary focus of all Rebounders Club events is to help raise awareness for the Nebraska men’s basketball program and encourage participation in fundraising events that benefit the student-athletes.

 

“The emphasis of the Rebounders Club is to raise financial support for the men’s basketball program to help it get to the championship level,” said Paul Garnett, President of the Rebounders Club. “This event is an excellent opportunity for us to do that and increase the exposure to the program at Nebraska while having a great time.

 

“There will be former Nebraska players and coaches in attendance, and a lot of camaraderie among people who care for Nebraska basketball. And obviously we’ll have Coach Doc Sadler, who provides energy and enthusiasm to any event. It will be an exciting and fun afternoon.”

 

Registration fees are $150 for an individual and the cost includes golf, steak dinner (5:30 p.m.) and a short awards program. Registration runs from 11 to 11:45 a.m. and lunch is available for purchase. An auction of Nebraska men’s basketball items will follow at 6:30 p.m.

 

Teams of four can sign up for $600, while individuals who want to just learn more about the basketball program and Rebounders Club without playing golf can attend the dinner and auction for $45.

 

The golf outing is limited to the first 120 participants (or 30 groups of four). To pre-register, download an entry form from Huskers.com (on the men’s basketball page) and send it along with a check payable to the Husker Athletics Fund to: Husker Athletics Fund/Doc Sadler Golf Classic, One Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, NE  68588-0154. Entries must be received by June 1.
