The Nebraska volleyball program claimed its first Life Skills Team Award of Excellence in 2007, just months after winning the third NCAA title on the court at the Qwest Center in Omaha.
The three-time national champion Huskers earned the award that is presented to the NU team that demonstrates the strongest commitment to all phases of the Nebraska Life Skills Program over the past academic year, including outreach, education and leadership.
The Life Skills Award is presented at NU's annual Student-Athlete Academic Recognition Banquet at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in April.
The volleyball team earned the award, edging the women’s basketball team, which won the award in 2004 and 2006. Six other teams earned Gold Level status in the Life Skills competition including wrestling, football, softball, women’s gymnastics, women’s golf and rifle.
