LINCOLN ? Time Warner Cable customers in Lincoln and surrounding areas will be able to watch this Sunday’s Husker baseball game against Texas during a free preview of ESPNU this weekend. The free preview will be Friday through Sunday on channel 235 at no additional charge to digital cable subscribers. Nebraska plays Texas at 12:05 p.m. Sunday.
Time Warner recently reached an agreement with The Walt Disney Company, which owns ESPN cable networks and Time Warner Cable Nebraska plans to add ESPNU full-time this summer, along with ESPN2 HD.
ESPNU, which will be added to Time Warner’s channel lineup this summer, features college athletic events, including the College World Series, football, volleyball, and other sports coverage from more than 10 Division I conferences. In addition to adding ESPNU, Time Warner Cable will also add ESPN2 HD at no additional charge to HD customers around June 1.
Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) recently announced that they entered into comprehensive multi-year distribution agreements that will extend retransmission consent for the ABC-owned broadcast television stations carried in Time Warner Cable systems, and provide for carriage of a broad array of Disney’s leading networks and services including: ABC Family, Disney Channel, ESPN, ESPN HD, ESPN2, ESPN Classic, ESPNEWS, ESPN Pay-Per-View, SOAPnet, and Toon Disney.
Three new high-definition services from Disney and ESPN Media Networks--ABC Family HD, Disney Channel HD and ESPNEWS HD?will also launch in Time Warner Cable systems when they become available in 2008.
