Husker All-Arounders Take on NCAA Finals

Senior Jason Wassung and junior Stephen T?trault, both Lincoln natives, will square off against the nation’s top all-arounders tonight as they battle for All-America honors at the 2007 NCAA Championships. Tonight’s meet also features the team finals, as well as the individual event preliminaries.

Wassung will begin on the parallel bars and rotate with the Oklahoma Sooners, while T?trault will start on the pommel horse with Minnesota. This is the third consecutive NCAA all-around finals for T?trault and the second for Wassung.

Sophomore T.J. Schmidt is the third Nebraska native to represent the Huskers tonight as he competes in the individual event preliminaries. Schmidt, who hails from Blair, will compete on the pommel horse and parallel bars.

Friday night’s meet will also determine the 2007 team champions, as six teams face off for the national crown. PennState (218.90) posted the highest qualifying score on Thursday, followed by Oklahoma (218.60), Minnesota (216.90), Stanford (216.35), Illinois (216.30) and Michigan (215.35).

Nebraska's season ended on Thursday at the NCAA team qualifier, as the Huskers finished fifth of six teams in Session II, failing to advance to tonight's finals. However, NU did go out on a high note, posting a season-high team score of 209.10.
