Travel difficulties involving the Texas Tech softball team that resulted in a late arrival, combined with heavy rain in Lincoln forced the cancelation of Saturday's scheduled game between the Huskers and Red Raiders. The teams are now scheduled to play a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
"In making a decision this early because of the difficulty Texas Tech has had in getting here, we felt it was important that we didn't put Texas Tech's student-athletes at a disadvantage because of their travel schedule," Athletic Director Steve Pederson said about the cancelation of Saturday's game.
Texas Tech was scheduled to fly from Dallas to Lincoln on Friday, but severe weather in the area canceled the Red Raiders' flight.
Nebraska's scheduled activities for the Lil' Sluggers will now be held on Sunday. Both the Husker poster signing and the egg hunt will take place after Sunday's second game.
