Hardy to Attend WNBA Pre-Draft Camp

Lincoln -  Nebraska's Kiera Hardy will be one of 51 of the top women's basketball prospects from around the world participating in the WNBA's Pre-Draft Camp at Cleveland State University March 30-31.

Hardy, a Kodak/WBCA Region 5 All-American and a three-time first-team All-Big 12 selection, closed her illustrious Nebraska career as the school's No. 4 all-time leading scorer with 1,930 points. She also smashed the school record with 267 three-pointers, previously held by current WNBA All-Star Anna DeForge with 155 from 1995 to 1998. DeForge is one of the WNBA's all-time leaders in three-pointers made.

Hardy leads a list of six players from the Big 12 Conference attending the camp, including Lyndsey Medders (Iowa State), Bernice Mosby (Baylor), Tiffany Jackson (Texas), Leah Rush (Oklahoma) and EeTisha Riddle (Missouri).

The camp offers coaches and general managers from all 13 WNBA teams an opportunity to evaluate players in advance of the 2007 WNBA Draft presented by adidas at the Renaissance Hotel in Cleveland on April 4 at noon central time. ESPN2 will provide exclusive first-round coverage of the draft with continued second- and third-round coverage on ESPNU and NBA TV. WNBA.com will provide complete analysis on all three rounds.

Hardy and the other prospects will display their skills by competing against each other in drills, half-court scenarios and full-court scrimmages during the three on-court sessions.

League-appointed personnel conducted player physical examinations on Thursday, March 29, with two on-court sessions scheduled for Friday, March 30 (8:30 ? 11:30 a.m., 6:30 ? 9 p.m.) and one for the morning of Saturday, March 31 (8-11 a.m.).

In addition to the WNBA’s Pre-Draft Camp on March 30-31 and Draft on April 4, Cleveland will host the NCAA Women’s Final Four April 1-3 at Quicken Loans Arena as well as the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association National Convention.

The WNBA season tips off its 11th season on May 19 when the defending champion Detroit Shock hosts the Sacramento Monarchs in a rematch of last year’s WNBA Finals.  The WNBA All-Star Game will be played at VerizonCenter in Washington, D.C. on July 15 with live coverage on ABC.
