Huskers Open Spring Schedule this Sunday

The Nebraska soccer team opens it spring schedule this Sunday, March 25 with a pair of contests against Minnesota and South DakotaState. The Huskers take on the Golden Gophers at 11 a.m., before facing the Jackrabbits at 3:30 p.m.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

 

Creighton and South DakotaState will pair up in between the Husker games, with that contest starting at 1 p.m. All three games will take place at the Nebraska Soccer Field and are free to the public. However, fans are reminded that these contests may not be played to regulation as the spring season serves as a training tool for collegiate programs.

 

This Sunday’s action is one of three spring home competitions for Nebraska, as the Huskers return to the pitch on Friday, April 6 for a Noon start against Denver. NU finishes its home stand on April 14 against Kansas at 3:30 p.m., following the Nebraska football Spring Game, which is set to kick off at 12:30 p.m.

 

The Huskers then travel to Kansas City, Mo., for a road match with SoutheastMissouriState on Saturday, March 31 at 5 p.m. Nebraska caps its spring schedule on April 21 as it meets up with the Colorado Buffaloes in North Platte, Neb., for a 6 p.m. start.

 

The Huskers finished the 2006 season with a record of 10-7-3 and will return 20 players, including nine starters, in 2007. Additionally, Nebraska will welcome one of the largest recruiting classes in Husker history as 14 newcomers join NU this fall.
