Hibner to be Honored on Monday

Please join the Nebraska Athletic Department for a Celebration of Life in honor of Dr. Barbara Hibner. 

Dr. Hibner was a key member of the University of Nebraska Athletic Department’s staff for nearly three decades.  She had retired as NU’s Associate Athletic Director and Senior Women’s Administrator December of 2005, and fought a valiant battle with cancer for the past year.  She passed away on Wednesday, March 7 at the age of 65.  Dr.  Hibner’s funeral was held last week in McSherrystown, Pa.

A Celebration of Life Program will be held on the University of Nebraska campus in Lincoln on Monday, March 19 at 2 p.m. The Celebration is open to the public and will be held in the West Stadium Club, which is the third level of Memorial Stadium.  Please enter through the skybox/press box entrance on the west side of the stadium.  Come reminisce and learn of the incredible impact “Dr. H” has had on Husker Student-Athletes over the last three decades and of the path she has trailblazed for generations of student-athletes to come. 

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the Dr. Barbara Hibner Scholarship Fund for Nebraska Athletics.  Funds donated will provide a scholarship for the Nebraska Female Student-Athlete of the Year.  The scholarship will be presented annually at the Academic Awards Recognition Banquet.  This year’s banquet is scheduled for Sunday, April 15.
