Parsons Named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week

Irving, Texas ? Junior Emily Parsons was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week for the third time this season, the conference office announced Wednesday. The St. Charles, Mo., native was recognized after capturing four individual event titles against Utah last Sunday. Parsons finished first in the all-around (39.575), vault (9.925), beam (9.95) and floor (9.925) in No. 8 Nebraska’s win at the DevaneyCenter. The seven-time All-American has competed in the all-around just three times this year and has claimed four titles for three consecutive meets.  

 

Parsons has also been selected Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week three times this year for a season total of six honors and has earned six previous Big 12 Gymnast of the Week awards in her career, bringing her to a total of 12 weekly conference awards. IowaState’s Katie Sweetin was honored as Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week.
