Hungerford is among 24 University of Nebraska juniors to receive the honor. She was chosen from a group of 65 students who were nominated by a faculty or staff member. The inaugural group will be recognized at a banquet this evening with the winner later being awarded a Nebraska Ring at the annual Nebraska Ring Ceremony in April.
Hungerford is a five-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and a 2005 First-Team Academic All-Big 12 selection. The Manhattan, Kan., native received a medical redshirt for the 2006 season due to injury, but looks to rejoin the Husker lineup for the 2007 season.
Hungerford is among six Husker student-athletes selected for the honor, including Sarah Pavan (volleyball), Mark Hightower (baseball), Stephen T?trault (men’s gymnastics), Imke Reimers (women’s tennis) and Issar Yazhbin (track and field).
