Parsons Named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week

Irving, Texas ? Junior Emily Parsons was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Tuesday. The St. Charles, Mo., native was recognized after capturing three individual event titles in Nebraska's win at Iowa State last Friday. Parsons finished first on vault (9.925), beam (9.85) and floor (9.925).

 

The Big 12 Conference has established the Event Specialist of the Week award this season, in addition to the previous Gymnast of the Week honor. Parsons has been also selected Big 12 Gymnast of the Week six times in her career, bringing her to a total of eight weekly conference awards. Oklahoma's Brittney Koncak-Schumann was honored as Big 12 Gymnast of the Week.
