Huskers Continue Off-Week Work

Nebraska conducted the second of third bye week practices on Wednesday afternoon, going through a 1 ? hour-workout in the Hawks Championship Center.

Head Coach Bill Callahan said the Huskers have had a brisk pace during both Tuesday and Wednesday’s workouts, and plan to do the same on Thursday.

“The speed of practice was great,” Callahan said. “We are trying to lower the volume and increase the intensity this week and that is what we have done the past two days.”

Callahan said the bye week is beneficial in Nebraska’s preparation for its Nov. 24 game against Colorado.

“The bye week affords us the opportunity to take a longer look at the opponent and spend more time breaking down the opposition,” Callahan said. “It also gives us the chance to really fine-tune everything we are doing.”

Callahan also had positive news on some injured Huskers. Wide receiver Nate Swift who suffered a concussion in Saturday’s game at Texas A&M should return to the practice field on Thursday. Meanwhile, offensive linemen Matt Slauson and Greg Austin should both be back on the practice field on Sunday afternoon.

Nebraska will practice again on Thursday afternoon, before taking Friday and Saturday off. Nebraska will resume preparations for the matchup with Colorado on Sunday.
