Whitewater, Wis. -- Cassandra Leuthold led the No. 2 Nebraska bowling team to a second-place finish at the Cheeseland Classic Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

The Huskers held a total pinfall of 13,372 over the three-day event held at the University Bowling Center in Whitewater, Wis. Fairleigh Dickinson, the 2006 NCAA national champions, topped Nebraska with a total pinfall of 13,461.

Leuthold, a redshirt freshman from Black Hawk, S.D., placed second overall with a 200 average.  Senior Amanda Burgoyne held a 195 average for a fourth-place finish, while junior Lindsay Baker placed eighth with a 194 average.  Newcomer Emma Butchard, a junior from Edinburgh, Scotland, placed 11th with a 194 average.

"This was a learning experience," Nebraska Head Coach Bill Straub said. "We had a lot of freshmen playing. It takes a lot of time to gain experience, so I think we'll be just fine."
