Tempe, Ariz. - The Nebraska women's basketball team continues play at the Veterans Day Classic in Tempe, Ariz., on Sunday when the Huskers take on Florida Atlantic at 3:30 p.m. central time at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Huskers opened the season with an 87-60 loss to No. 13 Arizona State on Friday. Nebraska trailed by just 10 midway through the second half and by just 12 with 6:16 remaining before being held without a field goal the rest of the way. The Sun Devils, who advanced to the second round of the 2006 NCAA Tournament, erupted on a 15-2 run in just a 2:51 span late in the game to extend their regular-season homecourt winning streak to 23 games.
Sophomore forward Kelsey Griffin led the Huskers with 17 points and seven rebounds against the Sun Devils.
Florida Atlantic, which earned a spot in the 2006 NCAA Tournament as the Sun Belt Conference Tournament champions, opened the season with a 74-44 loss to No. 18 New Mexico in the first game of the Veterans Day Classic.
The Owls lost three starters to graduation off last year's club and a fourth starter, Brittney Crenshaw is not eligible during the first semester. FAU will also play without their top returning scorer from a year ago, Demina Anderson, who is also ineligible.
No. 13 Arizona State will face No. 18 New Mexico in Sunday's other game in the tournament. The Huskers close out the tournament by taking on the No. 18 Lobos at 4 p.m. central time. UNM advanced to the second round of the 2006 NCAA Tournament and finished the season with a 22-10 overall record.
