Defensive Coordinator Kevin Cosgrove
On Jay Moore
“Jay has had an outstanding year. He played particularly well, especially his pass rush, but he was getting off the ball well. A few times it looked like he was off-sides, but then when you look at it in slow motion, as soon as the ball was moved he was gone. He’s been making a lot of plays for us all year. Not to take anything away from Adam (Carriker). Adam has been solid. He just hasn’t had the opportunities that Jay has had.”
On the impact of a healthy Steve Octavien
“He has play-making ability. I have to players at that position (with Bo Ruud) who have the ability to make plays, and they’ll continue that rotation.
“It’s nice having him healthy, because now you have a two-headed monster (at the WILL position). Before, I had Lance (Brandenburgh) having to play all three positions, and now I am able to limit him to only two positions while still getting him a lot of plays. It’s good to get these guys back.”
On OklahomaState’s offense
“They are very multiple, more multiple really than anyone we’ve played so far. We’ll see all of the groupings from them... They have all of the formations, anything you could imagine that you would want to see. There are a lot of different looks, and our kids have to see a lot of different things this week as we prepare for that.
“They have a lot of the same plays as Texas. They are an option team. They run a lot of option and have a lot of success with it. They will run the quarterback. These are things we have practiced all year. A lot of teams are doing these things. It’s just that (OSU quarterback Bobby Reid) is a different type of guy. This guy is a little bigger, he’s 6-3 and 225. He has great speed and he’s a strong runner, so he creates some problems. We have to make sure we do a good job of taking care of our assignments.”
