On the <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Texas running backs
“What I’ve seen so far is that they are just really good, fast guys.  (Jamal) Charles has got some wheels on him, so we’re going to have to get him down on the first try because he can definitely run.”<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

On the Texas offensive line
“We played a good offensive line at USC and Texas is just as good if not better.  So we have to go out there and do what we’ve been doing the last few weeks and just focus on playing disciplined and playing hard and things will take care of themselves.”

On the defense’s progress
“We’ve seen what can happen when you don’t play well and we want to make sure that doesn’t happen again.  Guys have started taking their jobs maybe a little more seriously and have started communicating better and have taken a little more professional attitude toward it.”

On the stakes of the Texas game
“Any game in the Big 12 the stakes are high just because you can’t afford to lose a game.  This one just happens to be against a good Texas team.  Luckily we have them at home, so we’re going to have to go out and keep playing the way we’ve been playing.  We have to play solid on D and get the ball in the offense’s hands so they can run the clock down and we can get the W.”

On if this is the biggest game he’s ever faced
“There hasn’t been a bigger one since I’ve been here.  This is a pretty big one with where the rankings are and stuff like that.  It’s going to be a fun one.  It will be exciting.”

On the ramifications of a win
“Obviously you want to think about winning.  You want to think positively about things because just painting a positive picture can sometimes get you a positive outcome.  We just have to go out there and worry about doing our own thing.  Guys need to worry about doing their job and completing their assignments and if everyone does what they’re supposed to then usually you can be pretty successful.”

On playing at home
“It’s going to be nice.  Being on the road two weeks in a row and being in those cramped locker rooms and things like that, it can get tough.  So it’s nice to play a game like this at home and get that home crowd back into it.  Just having that home advantage on your side is great.”

On the excitement surrounding the game
“It’s pretty exciting.  The fact that in this one year we’ve played the past two national champions is exciting because when you play this caliber of program you get to pit yourself against someone who is where we want to be.”

On the defense’s communication
“We’ve definitely worked on communications.  We need to make sure that when someone makes a call that we relay it to the other people.  You’re going to have some miscommunications every game, but we’ve definitely been working out the kinks in that area.”

On the Nebraska fan noise
“Be as loud as you want.  Don’t worry about being quiet so we can get the calls.  Make some noise out there.  I’d rather Texas have miscommunication problems sometimes, so our fans need to bring the noise.”

On Texas quarterback Colt McCoy
“He’s very athletic.  He can run it and he can throw it, so we’re just going to have to be on our keys all game.  They like to come out in that shotgun offense so we’re going to have to be right on our keys all game.”
