On the kind of offense NU's defense will see out of Texas
“They’ll give you a lot of different looks. They’re a zone team, but they’ll also give you a lot of counters and they may add their play-action game that they add with it. They give you some different personnel groupings, like you might see a 12-person grouping, which is two tight ends, with the same type of plays. So they’re very multiple in what they do, and they do a very good job of keeping you off-balance.”

On what will challenge the Nebraska safeties
“Well (Texas has) some very good receivers, and (freshman quarterback Colt McCoy) has done a really nice job. He’s a high percentage guy who’s thrown a lot of touchdown passes and only three interceptions, so his touchdown-interception ratio is just unbelievable for a young guy.”

On what challenges the defensive line will face against the Texas offensive line
“They’re a big, experienced offensive line. They do a good job protecting the quarterback.”

On how the defense has improved since the Kansas game
“There’s only a few things that we had to improve on in that game. Unfortunately in that game, they kept exploiting that area, and we’ve gotten that cleaned up.”

On the status of junior linebacker Corey McKeon
“Corey (McKeon) was out here practicing earlier, and now he’s inside for treatments. He’ll play, absolutely.”

On the defensive line and redshirt freshman Ndamukong Suh
“They were very productive last week. It all depends on how people are trying to attack us. It all depends on the type of offense we’re playing. (Ndamukong Suh) is much improved since the time he (arrived at Nebraska). He’s playing with a lot of confidence right now, and I’m really impressed. I think he’s become a more urgent player, more sudden. He has a better understanding of what we’re doing, which allows him to play faster.”

On Texas running backs (sophomore) Jamaal Charles and (senior) Selvin Young
“Those are two good backs. Both of them have tremendous speed. They do a good job of getting on the edge, and we’ll have to do a good job defensively of containing them.”
