On the game
"I want to give credit to the University of Nebraska. They won a hard-fought football game here tonight. It was a very good college football game and credit to them. They were able to come out on top in what was a knock-down, drag-out affair. I also want to say how proud I am of our players. They played very well. We had some mistakes early, but so did Nebraska. That's what made it a good game. Both teams made mistakes and both teams made great plays."

On his team's effort
"I want to tell you how proud I am of our team. We made some mistakes early, had a deficit on the road (but) never gave up. (We) kept fighting and took the game into overtime. I'm very proud of our football team. We would have liked to have won. There's no such thing as moral victories. We're not playing horseshoes, so close doesn't count. We're disappointed that we lost, but I can't help but to tell you that I am very proud of my football team. They did a great job - just came up short."

On running back John Cornish
"John Cornish ran hard. He runs hard, gets yardage after the first hit. He's just a workhorse."

On Eric Washington's status
"Eric is doing well. It was scary for a moment. He briefly lost conciousness and then he didn't have feeling in his extremities. We were very concerned but the report that I got is that he's fine and he's gained all his feeling is fine with his extremities. And that it's going to be a total recovery. Nothing critical."

"I do want to take a moment to thank the University of Nebraska medical staff. Being on the road we are limited with resources in a potential critical injury (situation). Their medical staff did an outstanding job with preparing Eric and transporting him to make sure that everything was done properly, along with our doctors also. But I do want to give thanks to the University of Nebraska medical team for their help. They were very good."

On challenging the call on Nate Swift's catch in overtime
"I have one (timeout) so I might as well use it. It's kind of like, 'No sense of saving your money when you're going to die. You can't take it with you.' You might as well use it because I thought maybe perhaps he bobbled it. His feet were in. I could see that but I thought maybe he didn't have possession when he went out of bounds."
