Timko Earns Big 12 Player of the Week Honor

Senior forward Brittany Timko was named the Big 12 Conference offensive player of the week after leading the unbeaten Huskers to a pair of victories last weekend. The honor was the first of the season for the reigning two-time Big 12 Player of the Year and the fifth award of her illustrious career.

Timko lit up the scoreboard last Friday against North Texas as she earned the fourth hat trick of her career by scoring all three goals in the Huskers’ 3-2 win. Timko is now just one hat trick away from tying the school record of five set by Kim Engesser.

Timko’s performance gave her six points on the night, which pushed her over the 100-point mark for her career.  The Coquitlam, British Columbia, native struck again early in Nebraska’s 4-1 rout of Drake last Sunday with her fourth goal of the weekend to put the Huskers up 1-0.

By recording four goals in last weekend’s action, Timko now has 10 points through the first four games of her senior season. In tallying at least one point in each contest, Timko also ran her string to eight consecutive games with at least one point, just four shy of the school record.

Timko and the Huskers are back in action again tonight with a 5 p.m. kickoff against Western Carolina at the Nebraska Soccer Field.
