Lincoln -- The 2007 Nebraska women’s and men’s gymnastics teams will kick off the year with an autograph session on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. The event, which is part of festivities at the Husker Nation Pavilion outside the Nebraska-Nicholls State football game, is open free of charge to the public.
The two squads will sign autographs for one hour in the Pavilion in the northeast corner of Memorial Stadium. In addition, fans are welcome to enjoy a performance by the band Taxi Driver, a dunk tank, an electronic driving range game and the football matchup shown on the big screen.
The Nebraska women’s team, which finished fifth at the 2006 NCAA Championships, returns seven All-Americans who have earned a combined 17 All-America awards in their Husker careers. Seven-time All-American junior Emily Parsons will lead the 2007 team after being named the 2006 South Central Regional Gymnast of the Year and claiming her 50th individual event title to cap her sophomore season.
The men’s team boasts a roster with nine new freshmen and a solid leader in junior Stephen Tetrault, who earned All-America honors on vault in 2005. NU finished 10th at the 2006 NCAA Championships, its fourth consecutive appearance and 23rd time in the last 28 years.
