Defensive Coordinator Kevin Cosgrove<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
On the WILL linebacker battle:
“It was a tremendous battle. It’s still very close, but Steve (Octavien) had some missed practice time (appendectomy) and Bo (Ruud) has had a good camp. So did Steve. But while one missed practice time, Bo just kept getting better. We just made the move to go with Bo as the starter for this game.”
On the improvement of Bo Ruud during camp:
“I like his exactness in what he does. He’s about 100 percent in everything he does. He’s exactly where he is supposed to be, and he has big play ability. I have a lot of confidence in him, as I do with Steve (Octavien). They are both going to play a lot.”
On the <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Louisiana Tech offense:
“They can be scary. They have a lot of weapons, and they’ve won some big games last year. They finished the year beating FresnoState on the road, who we all saw take USC down to the wire. They are dangerous. They have good skill, a big offensive line and tremendous speed at the running back position.”
