Huskers Greet Young Fans at Meet-N-Beat

<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Lincoln ? The Nebraska Soccer Field was alive with activity once again on Tuesday evening as more than 450 young fans met with players and coaches at the 12th annual Meet-N-Beat the Huskers event.  The youngsters ruled the pitch for the evening as they sped off to get autographs, enjoy free pizza and pop and participate in drills instructed by the Huskers.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

Drill stations were set up around the field to give the aspiring soccer stars instruction in all aspects of the game, including passing, shooting, defending and goalkeeping.  Nebraska soccer players were positioned at each station to set up the drills, while also providing encouragement and coaching.

The 2006 Nebraska soccer posters were available for the first time at the event, giving the kids in attendance the opportunity to meet all 27 Huskers as they signed their poster.

This is just the first of many chances local youth soccer enthusiasts and their family’s will have to enjoy Nebraska soccer as the Huskers host 14 home games at the Nebraska Soccer Field this season.  The Huskers begin the regular season at home on Friday, Aug. 25 at 5 p.m. when they host WrightState.  The contest is the first of eight consecutive home matches for Nebraska.
