Nebraska softball player KoKo Tacha was one of 352 student-athletes nationwide selected as current or future leaders on their college campuses invited to attend the 10th annual NCAA Leadership Conference, the NCAA announced on Tuesday.
The conference, which serves as a forum to enhance leadership and decision-making skills and provides an opportunity to discuss key issues in intercollegiate athletics, will take place May 28 through June 1 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
In addition to the speaker and discussion sessions, the student-athletes will participate in team-building initiative games at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.
A total of 39 coaches, athletic administrators and program facilitators will join the student-athletes at the conference. In addition, members representing each division’s national Student-Athlete Advisory Committee ? of which Tacha will serve as president of the Nebraska chapter in 2006-07 ? will lead discussion sessions and group activities.
The student-athletes invited to attend were selected from a total of 1,319 nomination forms that were submitted by college and university officials who have NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills programs on their campuses.
Tacha, who helped lead Nebraska to a 44-12 record in 2006, is a three-time first-team academic All-Big 12 selection and has taken an active role in the community in her Husker career.
