Nebraska softball seniors Lizzy Aumua, KoKo Tacha and Jessica Yoachim were all named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VII team. The honor marked the first award of each player’s career and Nebraska led all schools in the district with three selections.
Aumua, a first-team All-Big 12 and academic All-Big 12 pick in 2006, carries a 3.88 GPA in sociology. One of three outfielders on the squad, Aumua earned her degree at May commencement ceremonies.
A native of Manhattan, Kan., Tacha earned a spot on the team after earning eight Big 12 Commissioner’s honor roll selections and three first-team academic All-Big 12 awards. Named to the team as a utility/designated player, Tacha carries a 3.96 GPA in business administration.
Rounding out the Huskers’ selections was Yoachim, a native of Arkansas City, Kan. A first-team All-Big 12 and academic All-Big 12 selection in 2005 and 2006, Yoachim carries a 3.35 GPA. She earned her degree in communication studies at May commencement ceremonies.
The three players now move on to the national ballot, where they will be considered for academic All-America honors. Nebraska softball has produced a nation-leading 22 academic All-Americans.
