Nebraska To Face Iowa State in First Round of Big 12 Championships

<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Lincoln, Neb.?The No. 41 Nebraska women’s tennis team is the fifth seed in the Big 12 Tennis Championships after going 15-8 and 6-5 in the conference.  NU faces the No. 12 seed IowaState on Thursday, April 27, in Waco, Texas, at 3 p.m. in the first round of the tournament.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

 

The Huskers edged out OklahomaState and KansasState for the fifth seed.  All three teams own identical conference records as well as singles and doubles points.  Because of its win over Texas A&M, NU broke the tie between the three teams as KSU and OSU both lost to the Aggies, who are the second seed.

 

Nebraska defeated IowaState, 7-0, on Saturday, April 22, at the NU Varsity Courts.  The Huskers defeated the Cyclones in straight sets in five of the six singles matches, and topped ISU in doubles, posting 8-4 wins at all three doubles spots.

 

The winner of the NU-ISU match faces the No. 4 seed Texas Tech, at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, April 28,  at the Streich Tennis Courts in Waco.
