Huskers Ready for Spring Game

Lincoln - An exciting home weekend for Nebraska athletics reaches its pinnacle Saturday when the Husker football team takes the field for the annual Red-White Spring Game at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.

 

In addition to the Red-White game, many of Nebraska's other strong programs will be in action in Lincoln this weekend, including the No. 4 Husker baseball team, which will shoot for a three-game sweep of Texas A&M at Hawks Field following the football game. First pitch is set for 3:05 p.m.

 

The No. 16 Nebraska softball team battles No. 19 Baylor at Bowlin Stadium as well on Saturday, while the Husker track and field team and the Nebraska volleyball team will also be in action at home.

 

With the large number of activities and large crowds expected for several events, Husker fans should consider the following notes regarding the Red-White game.

  • Advance tickets are available on-line at Huskers.com, and tickets may also be purchased the day of the game. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for seniors (60 and over) and students not taking the Drug Free Pledge. University students and staff are free with their N Card.
  • Memorial Stadium capacity for the spring game will be approximately 57,000 seats. The North Stadium will not be available to fans because of on-going construction at Memorial Stadium.
  • Students taking the Drug Free Pledge at halftime will be admitted for free. Drug Free participants should meet by the columns on the East side of the stadium at approximately 11 a.m., and seating will be in the South Stadium.
  • Ticket selling areas on game day include the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office; Gates 10, 20 and 24; the intersection of “U” Street and Stadium Drive; and near the columns by Ed Weir Track Stadium. The ticket office will be open for ticket sales beginning at 9 a.m.
  • The following gates will be open for fans?Gates 2, 3, 4 and 10 on the West Side and Gates 20 and 24 on the East Side. Stadium gates will open at 11 a.m.
  • Seating for disabled fans will be available in Section 14D (southeast corner).
  • The Red-White Game will have the same restrictions in place regarding prohibited items in Memorial Stadium, including umbrellas, backpacks, coolers and glassware. In addition, with the passage of a new concealed weapons law in the state of Nebraska, fans are reminded that concealed weapons are not allowed on the UNL campus and are prohibited at all collegiate sporting events.
  • Parking will be at a premium on Saturday. Parking lots in close proximity to Memorial Stadium will be reserved and require a parking permit. UNL Parking Services will staff campus lots east of 14th street, with a $5 charge for public parking. Fans planning to attend the softball or baseball game following the spring game are encouraged to park at HaymarketPark. Fans arriving for the Nebraska Invitational track meet are encouraged to utilize the parking garage at 14th and Holdrege streets.
  • StarTran will be providing a shuttle service from South Pointe Pavilion at 27th and Pine Lake Road and from Slumberland at 27th and Superior. The buses will drop off and park in Lot 12 on the east side of Memorial Stadium.
  • The Husker Nation Pavilion will be open on Stadium Drive, beginning at 10 a.m. The Husker Nation Pavilion will feature its normal variety of games, family fun and vendors.

Admittance to the Nebraska Invitational track meet on Saturday is free. Fans who purchase a ticket to the Spring Game may use the ticket for admittance to the Husker softball game on Saturday afternoon. A separate ticket is required for the Husker baseball game and for the volleyball match against Creighton.

 

Fans who plan to attend the Saturday baseball game against Texas A&M and sit in the general admission seating (berms) are encouraged to buy their tickets in advance at Huskers.com or by calling the Ticket Office at 800 8-BIGRED.
